“Broadcasting love, building families.” This powerful theme brought together the entire Trans World Radio (TWR) Malawi family: management, staff, volunteers, content providers, and even the Vice Board Chairperson, Mr. Charles Mughogho, for a vibrant Family Day celebration held on Saturday, 26 July 2025.

The event, hosted at the TWR Malawi headquarters in Lilongwe, served as more than just a time of leisure; it demonstrated the organization’s deep commitment to relational strength as the foundation of impactful broadcasting.
“The event was more than a day of rest and recreation; it was an expression of the organization’s commitment to nurturing strong relationships between staff and ministry partners as the foundation of effective, values-driven broadcasting.” said Janet Mtali, TWR Malawi National Director.
Partnerships Coordinator Ernest Makanda said “There is a great connection between a happy family and being a happy presenter on radio. What happens in our families affects how we present ourselves on air.” He emphasized that TWR Malawi’s mission begins within the home, recognizing that love and unity in families translate into more authentic and life-giving radio ministry.

The event was also graced by several pastors from the Nkhomaliro ya Mawu program, including Pastor Willie Chaponda, one of the earliest voices on the program who began preaching on air in 2001, Pastor Bright Kagona, Pastor Rex Sambani, and Evangelist George Saiti Phiri.

Representing Nkhomaliro ya Mawu pastors, Pastor Rex Sambani highlighted the value of the gathering: “I applaud TWR for organizing this event. These are rare opportunities to connect with each other and build networks beyond radio.”

The day was filled with laughter, connection, and fun. Activities such as Bible verse recitations, musical chairs, and sack races among others, brought out a sense of joy and strengthened bonds across departments and roles.
TWR Malawi’s Family Day 2025 stands as a reminder that strong families form the backbone of strong ministry. As the team continues to be “Your Friendly Voice” on the airwaves, events like this ensure that the love broadcasted begins right at home.
